  • Who can apply to teach abroad through your program?

    We currently only accept Canadian citizens for our English teaching placements.

  • Do I need a TEFL certificate to apply?

    Not necessarily. You can still apply without a TEFL certificate. While we search for your placement, you can complete a TEFL program. We can recommend reputable TEFL providers to help you qualify quickly.

  • What benefits are included with placements?

    Depending on the country and school, benefits may include:

    • Free or subsidized housing
    • Flight reimbursement or allowance
    • Health insurance
    • Paid vacation and public holidays

  • Do I need to speak the local language?

    No. Schools want you to teach entirely in English. Learning a few phrases in the local language is helpful for daily life but not required.

  • How long are teaching contracts?

    Most contracts are for 12 months, with the option to renew.

  • What is the application process like?

    1. Submit your application to Northern Education Consultants.
    2. Complete or begin your TEFL program (if not already certified).
    3. We connect you with schools in China, Japan, or South Korea.
    4. Interview with potential employers online.
    5. Receive a job offer, work visa sponsorship, and begin your journey abroad!

  • Can I apply with a friend or partner?

    Yes. While placements for couples and friends are not guaranteed in the same school, we do our best to place you in the same city or nearby.
